Our Meta-Analysis Shines Among Top 10 Interventional Cardiology Papers of 2023!
Mar 12
Our meta-analysis study ranks among the top 10 interventional cardiology papers of 2023, as published in the European Heart Journal, the official journal of the European Society of Cardiology. Focusing on percutaneous intervention for peripheral artery disease, our research sheds light on this pressing issue.
Peripheral artery disease poses an increasing burden, yet the optimal endovascular management remains insufficiently explored. Led by Inselspital researchers, with the participation of the Epistudia team, our meta-analysis delved into data from 51 randomized controlled trials encompassing 8430 patients/lesions. Our findings indicate that drug-coated balloons exhibit a significantly higher likelihood of long-term primary patency in femoropopliteal disease compared to balloon angioplasty [odds ratio 2.47 (95% CI 1.93–3.16)]. Notably, unlike in coronary circulation, mid-term patency rates showed no significant difference between bare metal and drug-eluting stents.
This recognition underscores our dedication to producing high-quality evidence and reinforces our commitment to building an evidence-based community in life sciences.
